( in manchester UK

for work on seagate 1tb,

To be honest if you can't find one or make a suitable adapter on your own you havn't got a hope in hell of doing any successful terminal work on your 1tb drive!

Also a good source is the MAX3232 and its datasheet. Not USB, but serial port

I found using a usb to tll worked alot better then ca-42 cable.

is what I used and had better results then the ca-42 cable.
