hi all

i have an hitachi travelstar 1.8" which is locked by a hdd user password, i have spent a whole week searching for a way to unlock it or to recover it to a usable state since i dont need the data on it.

can anyone tell me if there is any chance that it could be unlocked with MHDD scripting.

thanks

thanks

that was quick and simple.

hope someone will find a solution one day who knows.

back to work on something useful than this nightmare of ATA, Firmware, Factory commands...

i advise all those people with this kind of problem to go buy a new hdd to avoid searching for something which is kept secret from manufacturers to people with knowlegde but which want to make money i dont blame either but its sad this is my opinion about the subject.

good luck

On this subject know one here probably knows how to do it. And if they did they would charge you for the weeks of work it required to research. Hope you understand that and yes sadly not everything grows on trees.

To be precise : the answer is NO about the FREE unlock. Otherwise the answer to "is it possible..." is YES.

:D

Then we have the other aspect, that the password is set there for a reason....to keep the information on the drive safe from other!

It don't matter to me if it is the information they want kept safe why not allow a factory erasure option to unlock the drive. Unlocking with forgotten password would cause deletion of all data...

Why not I say it is kinda lame that you can wind up with useless hard drives because of this crap....
