Hello Guys,
I need your help. because recently something went wrong with my Samsung HD322GJ HDD. It was in good condition, but after a wake up (from sleep computer) the HDD started the following:
Spinning up, withouth any clicking or any faulty sound then staying ready till 2-3 seconds, then spinning down. The BIOS don't recognize the HDD. I've tried with PCB change, BIOS change without success. I recently got some data through terminal (see it below).
There is a lot of family photos and some documents, what I really want to save... so, I kindly would like to ask your help guys, because I have no more idea :( Unfortunately the professional data recovery companies is not an option for me, because that is too expensive for my budget :(

Here is the log:

Another info:
I have an exactly same donor, which can be recognized by the BIOS, so the platter part firmware is maybe correct on the donor (thats trashed because bad sectors)

Likely a corrupted A-List, which can be cleared with the LE command in terminal.

Thx for fast response. It keep the filesystem on the disk or I have to use some kind of "raw data" recovery to save my data?

WRONG !!!!

LE command doesn't clear A-list.

LED 1A04 is indeed A-List problem but LE will only allow access to SA, it will NOT clear the A-List.

http://www.hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php?f=116&t=197

If the OP doesn't have any paid (full) firmware tool he can issue LE with TTL/Terminal and then use something like SHT DEMO to issue the ATA command to clear the A-List : - http://www.hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php? ... t=20#p9724

Image

You need to issue the SUPER ON FIRST (SHT will do that for you) !!!

IIUC, LR is the "View Rlist" command. Does it need to be preceded by an LE? :?

http://www.hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=682

Would it be possible to try the following test (on a drive with grown defects)?

    LR
    LE
    LR

Does the output of LR change after issuing LE? I'm assuming that the Rlist is the "A-list".

For what I know "LE" allows you to gain access to FIRMWARE and will not change the A-List.

You can clear A-List on TERMINAL with SHT on trinity but requires for SHT to write to the drive by terminal to some sectors. LE doesn't clear A-List but allows you to gain access to M/C by ATA on case of drives stuck with LED 1A04 error.

HERE :

On my test drive :

LR shows 1 defect and LE doesn't clear it. Now let's add stuff to "R" list :

Done some remapping to A-List (grown defect list) with HRT and check Terminal :

As you can see LE doesn't change A-List.

If you gain access to SA with LE you still need to do the A-List clear by ATA VSC or terminal with proper tools.

3 ways of fixing the issue :

1
- Submit LE command in the terminal for access reception to the SA
- Clear A-List
- You might need to clear SMART

2
- Download HTBI
- Clear A-List
- You might have to Clear SMART
- Download Main

3
- Hotswap (to gain access to MC)
- Clear A-List
- You might have to Clear SMART

"LE" is just the replacement of either "HOT SWAP" OR use HTBI (Burn). You are still required to clear A-List anyway and possibly clear S.M.A.R.T. as well.

The SMART feature field value is DEh. The ATA standard specifies this as a "reserved" value which means that it is not to be used by vendors. Instead values E0h - FFh are assigned as "vendor specific". :?

Well, i don't have a clue why Samsung decided to use that specific command on the "Reserved" range but the fact is that it works and it's what the firmware tools are using to clear S.M.A.R.T. by ATA :

Guys, I stucked in a basic point.
The patient connected to SATA3G port 1. I've the system on SSD on SATA6G port 1. When the patient attached, the windows doesn't starts, stucked on starting windows flag. Okay, I checked the hot plug option on, in the BIOS.
I have SHT v4.0.9 Demo and unfortunately I cannot idetify the HDD both with normal and safe mode HDD identification. There are a menu, named "Set IDE port data", I've tried both available option but without success.
Moreover, the donor also started the same symptons like the patient :(

Are you saying that Windows also cannot start when your good donor is attached? Does BIOS see it?

Try to plug a known good samsung drive to the system first. Make sure that you have BIOS configured to IDE Compatible mode if available.
You can try to use Victoria for windows in PIO mode and attempt all ports to detect the drive. If you manage to figure out the "port" with Victoria just type it in on SHT port menu.

I think he is saying that the donor is now damaged as well...

For example, for BVG HRT card :

Even if SHT can't "see" the port you can enter it by hand if you know the values.

Also try with a GOOD DRIVE first. If it works just power it off, replace with bad drive, issue LE on terminal and attempt ATA terminal on SHT.
