 Post subject: external HD keeps flashing

My Toshipa 500gb after use keeps flashing for hrs while a warning says do not remove while it is working.

What is going on?

I'm no expert but I ran into the same problem.

It was the OS (windows) indexing the drive. I removed the drive from the indexing options in the control panel.
