Hey guys, had one of these laying around. This is one of the "Surveillance series" drives and it has an interesting issue. This drive doesn't identify when set to master or cable select, only when set to slave.

It spins up fine, nothing strange on the current.

i loaded up terminal to see what i could see this is what I got (I am still learning how to read terminal output and thought I might be able to get some direction from someone)

----------------------------------------
4096k x 16 DRAM
GALAXY - 1_Disk S-6D 09-22-06_15:48

Buzz HM SFI
!
(P)PATA Reset
Master with failed Slave
---------------------------------------

thats all is will give.

I can run all of the terminal commands, but as I said I know 0 about the terminal at this point, which is part of the reason I am messing with this drive. It is NOT a customer drive and has ZERO important data, just an extra drive that was laying around with BAD written on it by someone, and I wanted to know WHy it was bad, and this is what I came across.

let me know!

Thanks

Nope, Drive gives me DRSC, DRDY. BUT gives AMNF constantly, and also ICRC at random.

I am starting to think maybe either Read channel, or controller failure?
