Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction. I have an old Fujitsu drive, MPD3108AT 10.3Gb, drive which has stopped spinning up after a power down. There is data on this I would wish to recover, having tried some of the 'tricks' suggested I a still in the same position. I have tried to obtain another drive without success but am being offered a Fujitsu drive with a differing model but same capacity and am told the pcb can be swapped. Does anyone have knowledge of this procedure or where I can get a compatibility list. Any other suggestion would be appreciated.

Nope, you need at least the same series. Capacity does not matter in this series.

F/w version also needs to be the same, unless you copy the ROM over.

I'm a little concerned what "tricks" you tried though, I hope one of them wasn't the old freezer myth?

Where are u based?

PCImage,

Thanks for the prompt reply, I did see the freezer plan but thought better of it, a slight tap sidewards is acceptable I suppose. There is a chap selling Fuji drives and I thought he may be trying to offload one to me even if it was inappropriate so that is why I searched out you guys. I have had another mail from someone with a drive but the price is about that for a 250Gb drive, if I get desperate perhaps I will have to look at this but I would like to try other avenues first. I am based in Wales so if you have any suggestions I would be most appreciative.

Many thanks in advance

Yes, if a head crash or platter scratch are acceptable either... go for the side tap. How much are you willimg to spend for the recovery (max. And all inclusive) ?
