What oscilloscope are you using for DR?
Is 100 MHz enough?
Is a virtual oscilloscope like VS5000 (http://www.rigolna.com/products_Vs5000.aspx) a good alternative?

These toys are useful on modern drives like a tit on a bull.
If you want to analyze a data channel, dig in your pockets and buy a LeCroy or Tek or Agilent DDA. The bad : several thousand $/€ . The good : excellent aftersales service and repaids itself. Don't buy toys, save money until you can afford a real tool.

Try to get a least 1 GHz bandwith so you can do proper analysis.
Special trigger functions are also required, but can only be found on a DDA; so indeed, it will cost you alot.
New begin at 40000 us$ (yes, 40 000; not 4 000). Second hand can be a lot cheaper if you are lucky and are if you willing to buy an older model.
