At the picture, you can see the pins of the Marvell chip go to the other of the board through some vias.

At the other side of the board, follow the traces and you will see they pass through two pairs of capacitors, then connect to the bridge chips ( the one near the usb connector ) .

You will remove those 4 capacitors, and connect the sata connector wires to the empty pads, at the side that goes to the Marvell chip.

For this one-off job, no need to use other resistors/capacitors in circuit. But keep the wires short and neatly arranged. You can find many other threads here about the same procedure with a discussion about the importance of the cabling.

Connect the usb cable normally, to give power to the disk

Hi everyone! I manage to get the data out of the drive!
I were able to solder a usb cable directly to the pcb.

Here a picture of the finished work.

Thank you all for the help!

Old topic but same case.

Samsung HM502JX/VPK
PCB BF41-00282A (M7S-S Line Rev 01 R10 )

Client says damage occured possibly by water . No water anywhere now. Dried .
Drive working. But spinning and clicking nonstop. I guess head problem.

PCP has different connector Not SATA . But I want to check with MRT before head swap. I don't have SATA donor PCB ( BF41-00249B) according to data medics compatible list .
Also no external bios chip. (Maybe not unique rom chip for this drive. I don't know. Don't have donor PCB yet also)

How do I prepare sata connection . Any pinout info to communicate with MRT.

Locate the SATA Tx/Rx pairs on the SATA PCB and follow the traces back to their respective pins on the MCU:

Then locate those same MCU pins on the USB PCB, remove the coupling capacitors, etc.

Thanks. I have decided to do same way. Would try
