@Labtech

How'd you do it? I'm sitting here with the same drive that won't boot and would really like to recover the data. I've ordered a couple of adapters but the lif cable didn't fit of course. Thanks in advance for your insight.

Can you explain what is going on first? Looking for description of events prior to finale failure, if any, and then what the laptop is doing on power on.

Be as descriptive as possible, please!

Got same problem and can't find an adapter. How much would you charge to recover data?
Thanks

I do not take referrals or do business directly with customers.
You have good options for recovery in your neck of the woods.

What makes you think the motherboard is damaged? Or laptop, etc.?

There is no updater for this.

When you power your laptop on, please describe in detail what happens! Namely, does the laptop see the drive in BIOS?

This is for this PCB we disscussed. And the previous picture I attached is another layout.
Be sure to USE 3.3V

So according to that picture, are each of the pairs on the end of those resistors? Meaning, can I just solder to the resistors for A+ and A-, etc and the ground traces are the larger ones in between?

Or are some of these the larger traces in between. So A+ would be the large trace above the resistors, A- would be the pair of the resistors, etc? I would assume the first one would be the case, as it would be the easiest to work with.

I'm also assuming you need to basically treat this as two separate drives and there is no good way to combine both sides for a larger drive, correct?

@ nunesfl
Give more details if you seek help.
A brief history of the problem and what you have attempted
Is it your drive or others?
How important is the data?
What is the original problem with the drive ?

Post a pic, because

cant help you with only this information.

I have a Samsung MZ-RPC2560/0so that I need to do DR on, but I am having the same issue that others have mentioned. It is a RAID disk with a single 30 pin LIF connector for both drives, and I do not know the pinout, or where to score a cable for it. The drive was pulled from a completely dead Z series laptop, and I have no way to transplant it into something working.
Could anyone perhaps help? I found an article online (http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/65 ... d-1tb.html), but I am reluctant to do this unless it is a last resort, as it could damage the LIF socket.

I can provide pictures, but I'd rather save the hacking for a last resort. Thanks for any info!

Can you define laptop being "dead"?
What tests did you run to determine that it was "dead"?
What were the results of the tests?

Dead as in toast, spilled coffee on the mainboard and it is no longer powering up whatsoever. I don't know what tests I could run in that case, but I suppose I could take a multimeter to it and see if it is drawing power... It has already been sent to Sony, and they said it would cost 3500 dollars to fix and do DR; this is unacceptable, and I figure I can get the data off at least for a fraction of that. Luckily the HDD is on the bottom and seems to have avoided the coffee.
