Unless ROb has already helped you, you can ask user ajayvats for help. Although the solution may not be applicable in your case, he can possibly share some ideas.

Now if your drive is working go and copy quick all the data you can and if not throw it out tho the garbage or send it to the manufacturer.

Shorting read channels:
short the pins shown here
Code:
http://qbhn.neostrada.pl/ST31000528AS.jpg

this is the component side, it goes through the pcb to the other side, I think here
Code:
http://qbhn.neostrada.pl/02.jpg

but not sure - thrust the first image its 100% ok

Hi,

As with many others, my Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 750 GB Firmware: CC46 stopped being recognized by Bios one day. I've spent few days trying to find out what was wrong, and hours trying different combinations in Putty. I need to mention that the drive had no important data on it when it happened so I decided to give it a try, and no warranty. Finally, I found this thread and followed the instructions below. Everything was going well upto F3 T>m0,2,2,,,,,22 where I kept receiving DiagError and partition failed. What I did then was unplugged Sata power prior the F3 T>m0,2,2,,,,,22 step, waited 10 secs, plugged it back, ctrl+z to get to F3 T> then F3 T>m0,2,2,,,,,22 and ENTER. Everything went well after that. I turned the pc off, plugged the drive back and turned it back on, but the same issue - not recognized by BIOS. I can hear the drive spins and there is one more repeated low sound - not a click. I'd like to know what this sound can possibly mean and if there is anything else can be done to fix it. Thanks for your support!

Pretty sure the drive has internal read-write hardware issue and/or media damage.

Was it dropped or sustained any kind of physical shock?

Did you complete procedure with reseting SMART before cycling power? If not, I guess, you need to repeat entire procedure.

Is it possible that PCB is fully functional?

If the issue is in the heads, do you think it is worth it to get a donor drive to do the swap?

Thank you very much for your support!!!!!!!!!!!
