Hi, I have a seagate 7200.12 HDD, some months ago I burn the PCB, after looking solution I changed the PCB, same disk, same model, capacity, velocity, all same, except firmware.

Then when I test it, my xp do not see.
It turn and function and is hot.
Any suggestion please ??

You need to move the 8-pin serial flash memory IC from patient to donor. This chip stores unique, drive specific "adaptive" information. Some board suppliers include a firmware transfer or ROM transfer service for US$10 - $20. Otherwise, if you are not adept at soldering, your local TV/AV repair shop should be able to do it for you.

BTW, what was the problem with the original PCB? If the damage is anything like in the photo clips, then it may be easier and safer to repair the original board. In fact a DIY repair might cost you nothing.

If the inductors in the second link are burnt, then your board will have suffered an overvoltage on the +5V supply. Check your power supply before proceeding.

To repair the board, replace each inductor with a wire link. Also remove the 5V TVS diode in the first URL. It will be shorted.

If there is no other damage, then the drive will be OK. However, removing the diode also removes the overvoltage protection, so there will be no second chances. If, for continued protection, you wish to replace the diode, then you can use an SMAJ5.0A from Farnell, Mouser, Digikey.
