Ok got a usb to rs232 ttl convertor

Image

, its setup like

Grnd -> grnd
Tx -> RX
Rx -> TX

Sata power -> pcb board.

When the pcb board is connected, i receive messages Eg:
LED:000000CC FAddr:0024AFF9
LED:000000CC FAddr:0024AFF9
LED:000000CC FAddr:0024AFF9

Which is a sign of the BSY error, when i disconnect the pcb board and place card inbetween, i get no messages, it says im connected yet ctrl + Z does nothing. I set it up to echo back what i type and its just showing a little black arrow --> which i think is the symbol for ctrl+Z?

Im using hyper terminal private on windows 7 64bit

I have tried putty but its refusing to open the connection ( plays a beep when i press open )

Im completely lost on this as i believe im doing everything right??

I believe this drive is qualified for free data recovery at Seagate

It's normal not to get terminal access on these using the typical internet methods

1. Disk has to be complete (PCB+rest together), NO isolation between the PCB and the rest
2. In the terminal you will see every few seconds message LED: 000000CC ...
3. between these messages you can unlock the terminal by pushing CTRL+Z. It will show a line: "F3 T>" and it will be Unlocked for about 1 second

You see the problem i have is that the 000000CC message comes up roughly every 6 seconds, not four and ctrl+z does nothing.

Post #20 on that page says:

i have the same es.2 as you johnmar

with normal points from you johnmar it didn't work after the LED-- error message ctrl+z nothing happened!

i had to short your 2 points and the other 2 from this translated page on post #4.. switched this points then the other 2 points.. and somehow it worked!

But i cant understand what i have to do as its translated. If anyone here knows what to short and when, id like to know.

You are on the right path. Gotta study more and you will get there.

Just be aware that once playing around and making a mistake, recovery may no longer be possible and warranty can be voided by Seagate.

That is where R&D come in and a lot of time spent on this one. Nobody here will give away this for free and this is not your typical busy or 0 LBA error on this one. I think that you will have to invest a lot of time in R&D to figure this one out or take it to a DR shop and have them do this one for you. I do not think this one should be too expensive on this. But remember once broken can always break again. Had in here twice same drive with same problems and client wanted it fixed again and to use it again. I warned him on this one. Even I updated the FW on this one but still happened again. I do not really truest a lot the Seagte HDD sorry. Good luck and happy searching on this one.
