Hey guys,
Recently 2 of my 2 Hard drives failed and they won't even spin up anymore .While looking for a solution,i found that it could be the TVSs which could be causing this.So i took the diode measurement of (what i thought were)the TVSs on both of my Hard drives

On my Samsung 1TB HD103SJ

The one circled red returns a value of 003 and the one circled blue returns a value of 739

On my Maxtor 160GB STM3160215AS

The one circled red returns a value of 003 and the one circled blue returns a value of 699

So what must i do to get my Hard drives working again?
Any help will be appreciated

Cleanly remove them without causing damage to the surrounding components.

If your lucky & this does work then just remember that they wont have over voltage protection so make sure you have a good PSU. If you want to continue using them properly then you need to solder replacement TVS diodes.

In my case,i guess it would be better to get replacement TVSs. Can anyone advise me on how to get them?

(on the maxtor drive,the markings on the TVSs are "ST VU BUX GP744" and "ON QE R745" and on the Samsung drive, "ON pA06 LG" and "ON pA03 6V8A")

Use the search function for keyword "digikey" and you should come across this store and other.

i already searched mouser and digikey with those marking on the TVSs and came up with nothing

On the first picture fuse on 5V rail is blown, then likely TVS in red circle is blown.
On second picture TVS marked red is visible burnt.
Don't remove a good one. meassure first.

I wish I had red your post first.i desoldered both TVSs on the hard drive in first picture and it still wouldnt spin up and i partially desoldered (at one end only)both TVSs on the hard drive in the second picture and it spinned up and i could read from it .
i had forgotten all about my previous diode measurement test

so if i bridge the 2 ends of the fuse in the first picture hard drive it should spin up right?

Okay,so i joined the 2 ends of the fuse on the first hard drive and it spun up too
Just one last question

What replacement TVSs must I buy? and what would be a suitable fuse to replace the blown one on the first hard drive?

(For the TVSs: im guessing 2 x 5V SMAJ5.0A since on the 2nd drive the blown TVS is on the 5V rail and in the first, the blown TVS is on the common rail between the 5V and 12V)

What I see, in both cases there are blown 5V TVS's (between 5V rail and ground). You need to look at your replacement of power supply, as it shoudn't happen, but you have 2 cases on 5V rail!

Reply came late, sorry. Glad both drives work now.
TVS replacement as per loki post. You need also fuse, it should be around 2-2.5 A. When replacing TVS make sure to put it in the same directions.

i attached here pcb picture, F1 (fuse) was broken, i put here soldering wire, but the pcb is burn now, (with burning smell),

any advice for replacing FUSE, or any advice to put soldering wire against fuse,

OR i need ok fuse from any other pcb,

Are you sure it was a fuse there? it doesn't show on the picture.
Replacing fuse with piece of wire is like not doing regular backup.
