Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi all,
I have 2 of these WD10TPVT drives. They spin up to about half speed, slow down for a split second, try spin up again to full speed, then spin down before reaching full speed. Heads stay parked.
The following has been ruled out: PCB, heads, motor/spindle. Drive spins up to full speed and clicks with another PCB without native ROM, as expected.
All that is left is a ROM issue. This error appears in kernel mode:
Techno mode key
Techno mode key......................... : Ok
Debug Stop Code......................... : DEBUGSTOP CRT RAISE
I'm in need of the following ROMs please:
ROM:
ROM reading............................. : Ok
ROM Data size........................... : 256 Kb
ROM version............................. : 08.0CB
ROM generation.......................... : 08.0CB
Link table version...................... : 02.0B.
Consolidated ROM version................ : 0008000C
and the other drive is:
ROM:
ROM reading............................. : Ok
ROM Data size........................... : 256 Kb
ROM version............................. : 08.06B
ROM generation.......................... : 08.06B
Link table version...................... : 02.07.
Consolidated ROM version................ : 00080006
Many thanks,
Nick

Is it the one you need?
http://forum.hddguru.com/scorpio-blue-not-recognised-t22865.htmlI still have copy on my hard drive. I didn't receive help on the subject, but if my ROM will help you, I don't mind. Let me know.

I somehow forgot to mention these drives are WD10TPVT-00U4RT1
SAjunky, I don't think your drive has the same issue as these 2, you said yours was attempting to initialise 5 times then stops. These don't even spin up to full speed before spinning down with original ROM.
Need ROM for these 2.

This should really be in the PC-3000 section of the forum.
I have put a thread there instead:
rom-needed-wd10tpvt-00u4rt1-t23635.htmlMod can remove this one.
Apologies and thanks.

Did ROM fix this for you? Have the same drive, same symptoms, same error.
