Hi,
i have a samsung hardrive HD322HJ that have a clicking sound.

I opened the drive and it has little scratches near the heads, then when i closed the hard drive it began working again and i was scanning with r-studio to recover the data.
After a few hours the drive then again started with the clicking sound.

i can assume that is a defective headstack problem but i don't deal with samsung drives frequently so i don't know if can be another thing

Probably has 1 bad head. Samsung HDD have huge zones per head and with single bad head knocking may be infrequent.

Also, scratches you mention are not good. But with damage like this, why would you try to recover through windows? With this you run more risk of damaging the drive further. You should try to use specific imager that can image head by head. Or better, change the heads out to prevent further scratching.

Well about using windows it's because it was working fine with data compass for the hard drive and to scan the drive and recover using r-studio.

Another question, my head comb replacement toolkit doesn't support samsung drives and i don't want to hurt the drive. So maybe i will have to buy a tool like hdd surgery have or if you can tell me about another solution.

Thanks for the help again

But it was not fine. You opened it because was malfunctioned, you see visible scratch, so how is it working fine?

For samsung, best tools available are at hddsurgery. Other tools may be commercially available but will be of significantly less quality. some DIY solutions may be possible to safely remove heads, but with no experience with other tools this is not really option for you.

The scratches are little, very little like a mosquitoe. But you are right.

Normally i use windows because of the data compass to read drives better but anyway. Thanks for your help and advices

you could probably fit a few hundred data tracks on those "little scratches" If they are visible to the naked eye, they are "huge scratches"
do some reading on whats inside a harddisk. you will be surprised and horrified at the scratches afterward.
