Hello, i've this DiamondMax22 STM3320614AS hdd with firmware MC1H.
The drive is no more detected in windows, bios detects it with 0 LBA.
No clicking sounds, motor spins good and terminal gave me successfully spin down and spin up.
PCB seems to be ok, no burning signs and no oxidation.
I tried to do the translator regeneration in terminal but nothing has changed, still detected with 0 LBA in bios and in MHDD.
I tried again but this time i did also SMART reset which gave me LED:000000CC FAddr:00239CED error

Terminal log:

Is MC1H the last fw update for this drive?
I found on seagate site this:
http://knowledge.seagate.com/articles/e ... Q/207975en

Maybe MX1B is the last, but i can't understand because if i clic on button "Which firmware is right for me?" it answers "No Newer Firmware Available"
Please help me to understand this, and if this issue is caused by firmware crash or something else.
Thank you.

If translator regeneration doesn't solve the 0 LBA issue, could it be a problem with checksum value of the p-list?

would having a read out of his slip list help? Maybe the factory specific section of his hard drive is corrupt?

DISCLAIMER: I wouldn't try dumping that info until the regulars have had a chance to explain how bad of an idea it is or how stupid I am for suggesting it. After you read all of that then maybe you want to try it, or maybe you just want to "bin it" haha

Time for Pro DR, and don't fiddle with the drive anymore, could end up with a bricked one for sure.

- Go to /1 and erase SMART
- Remove power to HDD and start it again without blocking the read channel and with PCB, etc ...
- Go to T and erase G-List (i4,1,22)
- Power off HDD again, Power it on, go to T and do the m0,2,2,0,0,0,0,22 . Check to see if it states something like :

How do i block the read channel?
I already tried with piece of paper under the head contact, but i always get LED:000000CC on smart reset comand.
Tried also with paper under the motor contact and both, but i always get LED:000000CC

Maybe the trick is to turn off the read channel as you say, but how?

Put the plastic on the spindle contacts, turn on the drive, issue the spin down command, remove the plastic, issue the spin up command, go to /1 and erase SMART. If it doesn't work assume it's not a DIY case and send the drive to a pro to pr4event further damage.

I put the piece of plastic under the spindle contact, but i don't get the terminal prompt, ^Z doesn't work.
I get into F3 T only with all pcb connected to the drive.

Tried again the N1 but i get always the same LED CC error.

I tried also N5, N6 and ^U, maybe you can understand what's wrong:

DiamondMax 22 are the same of Barracuda 7200.11.
DM22 have busy and 0LBA bug as 7200.11 and easily fixable with N1 and m0,2,2,,,,,22 commands.
But this solution doesn't work on this DM22, meaby because of the strange firmware MC1H :?
If firmware was MX15 maybe it would work

After that you have to rebuild something else more than translator and P-list, I'm afraid
