Hi Guys,

I've got a Seagate Barracuda 500GB ST500DM002, FW:KC45, Site: SU.
Drive spins up, I hear healthy heads movements and drive stays Busy.
On start up terminal shows:
"Boot 0x10M
Spin Up[0x00000000][0x0000B67C][0x0000BA10]
Trans.
Rst 0x10M
MC Internal LPC Process
Spin Up
(P) SATA Reset"

And that's it, stays quite and running no further output and no access to terminal.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to proceed with this one as it looks like a FW issue.

Thanks,
Oded

hehe . in this sitution head cannot stuck . if head stuck then it shows ready status and some time host fis error and shows pcb details like model and serial number .
it seems that there are pending sector or pcb lock thats why u cannot see any thing .
upload picture of pcb from component side. i tell u the points.

yes it was a FW problem, the famous m CMD after clearing g-list helped in this case, but every case is different.

For Terminal hanging I got the solution I think this is some kind of bug in the hdd when Glist list is full after reading firmware it stuck on pending sector.

Connect to the terminal after (P) SATA Reset message Ctrl+Z without delay of 1 second you can try many time if the timing will correct after reading of firmware it will come to F3T>

if you delay in pressing Ctrl+Z it go to read smart report and hang.

In the terminal reports me the following:

Thanks you for you response,

not think it is bad heads, The eeprom is another identical hard drive and I think this is why the messages were exchanged because the original is bad.

What I can do to access the data?

Thanks in advance

Hola Fali!

What you want to say here?
Original ROM bad? and you arte ussing another ROM IC from another PCB?
CAn you show us ID from Drive (model, FW, p/n, PCB id, ....)?
CAn you show us pics from hd and from PCB booth sides?
How you know that original ROM is badly?
Which tools do you use?
Which skills have you got?

for this job skill, tools, and how know are needed

Mdl=ST500DM002
FW=KC45
PCB No=100535704 REV C

-------------------

Thanks for your answer, the information of the disk is:

Mdl = ST500DM002
FW = KC45
PCB No = 100535704 REV C

This is bad because a partner has tested and assures me so bad,

I've put a PCB with EEPROM equivalent disk (that is the same as exchanging the PCB from one disk to another without exchanging EEPROM)

Detects the disc with 3.86 GB capacity and emits clicking sounds when starting.

If I have the original EEPROM, is it possible to recover or regenerate the EEPROM information for the disk is accessible ??

Thank you very much in advance

Hola Fali!

gracias

Hi Fali!

I have bad news for you; because if you have not original ROM this can not be regenerated. there is a remote posibility but i think will be not lucky.

but i think your problem is relative to bad heads, or bad media.

when yoou power up HDD, spin start and after that go down?

I think the best is contact with a Pro, if you want you can send me. revision is free off charge.
see private my post.

Thanks
