Hi All,

I have got the following drive:
Model : SAMSUNG HM100UI
Capacity : 931.51 GB (1 953 523 055)

The patient drive was diagnosed as burnt PCB.
I have the right donor for making Hot Swap.
I got all the modules out of the patient drive but I am not sure what are the right modules that I have to write to the donor drive in order to complete the hot swap.

I tried to move the ROM chip out of the patient drive to the donor drive pcb but found that it is corrupted so I put back the original donor rom so the donor is alive and fully working.

Many Thanks!

AIUI you need to copy those modules that are responsible for building the translator. Those would be SLIST, TLIST, ALIST and CONFIG. Other models also require CONFIG2 and SLISTHDR, but the latter appear to be absent from your list.

Could you upload the contents of the patient ROM?

I wrote those modules to the donor drive and made the hot swap but without success. I believe there is another module which I missed to write also.
What it could be?

Spildit, I use PC3K and for some reason it can't read out the rom. I don't have programmer which I can use to dump the rom.
I believe that the rom was dead due to long soldering process. That rom was really persistent and refused to get out (it has lots of tin in its bottom). So I forced to over heat the area till it was out (I think that eventhough it can't be seen outside I mistakenly burnt that poor chip).
Any other solutions that might work?

hello
I like to know how to READ the modules when the dodor is not working, fell on the floor and broke the heads body, only the PCB is working how read only pcb without body?

to hot swap the PCB need combine serial and flash version,,correct? only can i swap rom chip?

I followed this: Hot Swap and Smart Hot Swap
https://forum.hddguru.com/viewtopic.php ... t=hot+swap
http://www.hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php?f=117&t=714

but how to access the system area without the body with ttl?

my HD is samsung here i have two PCB compatible ...

summing....
there is way to connect the board without the body with TTL in the terminal on SRT, read modules-backup and transfer the card to the patient's body?..

Thanks

I followed your tutorial:

all okey to me, noproblem ...

i have other patient body HD502HJ/SRA S/N S2BWJ50BA09481 2011.10 REV. A
but i no know the firmware version,,so then i need swap only ChipROM,,correct? This is my doubt....

when my PCB tis drive burned a long time ago i destroy her,...
but I think I'm not sure if i removed the chip he,..
I have some mixed here that i saved, maybe it is ROM = STJ009-123J ????
Can you tell me if this will work on this HD502HJ?

I know the PCB is = BF41-00302A
for models HD502HJ HD254GJ ST500DM005

correct? so to heal my doubt, need just to change CHIP and READ modules? :P

My case i not know the version of the patient's FW and I do not have the patient's chip, how do I make to donor with the same FW version?

i have here patient body: HD502HI - BF41-00283A 01
to models = HD321HJ HD322HJ HD502HI

donor PCB = BF41-00302A
to models = HD502HJ HD254GJ ST500DM005

You can directly write a new ROM to a donor PCB with a full version of SHTR. This is done by terminal. Or you can "adapt" a PCB by HOT-SWAP + writing donor overlay as already discussed.

If the drive is no longer working you can adapt a PCB by writing donor drive overlay to match the ROM or you can try to write several ROMs from a firmware repository until you manage to get one that does work (match the overlay).

- Clearing S.M.A.R.T. will not solve any problem with the drive (unless you have damaged S.M.A.R.T. related modules/tables). If you do have defects that were added to the G-List (A-List) you might want to move them to P-List (merge) and then clear G-List (A-list) and re-format (or use security erase) the drive.

hello thank for answer me on HDoracle ...

My problem is that I am confused who is the patient and who is the donor
I have a lot of HDs here so I mixed it all ...
at the moment I want to recover the HD502HJ BF41-00302A CHIP=STJ009-123J
BUT I'm without donor PCB of same model,,i have here BF41-00283A-01
So no is compatible,,
my doubt if i get compatible donor PCB and swap CHIP-STJ009-123J to donor,, no need READ modules and WRITE OVERLAY or MOVLY001 ?? or BOVLY001 and MOVLY001

When you find problems to desolder a component, it is better to preheat the PCB at about 130 - 150 ºC and the component to give it heat will leave very easily.
In any case, it is very possible that the ROM is not broken, it usually holds up well the heat.

Tank much
good to touch on this subject..
I need information about the circuit board, ..
I changed a smd diode and a resistor in series, but they are a bit different from the original, but I do not know the correct voltage on them, can you help me if is on problem? ..

I'm sorry I can not help you. This case escapes my knowledge by much.
I have searched for the burn-in of this family, in case you could be needed and you do not have them, but I do not have them.

If someone has them and can upload them, I would appreciate it.

Greetings.

When I erase on mhdd all errors disappears and then back again, I already cleaned Glist ALIST smart on sht ..
maybe on victoria security erase it work? but i get error, drive frozen, need max security level ...
