Hi Guy's
My name is Bob I am fairly good a repairing hardware but not dead hdd's. I am wondering if someone can give me some help. I was given 2.5 inch WD 750 Gb hdd to see if I could retrieve the data on it. The story goes the guy went to turn the laptop on and it would not start up it was running okay up to then. It was running win 7 I have looked at the drive with EaseUSpartition Manager and this is what shows up

Disk4 File System Capacity Used Unused Status Type
*: Other 120.00GB 120.00GB 0 Bytes Active Primary
J: Unformatted 800.00MB 800.00MB 0 Bytes None Primary
K: Unformatted 577.85GB 577…85GB 0 Bytes None Primary

I haven't used any programs that write to the drive I am wondering could it be the MBR. I would really like to help my sons friend as there are 21st and engagement pics on it but I don't want to try anything in case I stuff it up. So any help would be gratefully accepted.

Regards Bob

Try and clone the drive with some non-windows sw (e.g. Dd_rescue or Media Tools Pro) then the run some recovery sw on the clone (e..g getdataback, r studio).

If the drive struggles to read or starts making any unusual noises, then STOP immediately and seek pro assitance.

Usual DIY disclaimers apply. :-)

Good luck.

If hdd is deducted not much of a issue, if easeuspartision doesn't work then try with complete recovery it will help you out

Or else need to try with PTT application
As suggested earlier if your HDD making noise unplug it

As you looking to recover images some images you won't be able to recover only part of image is wat you get but most will be recovered
