After MHDD gets to 6 million, it starts getting X errors. I walked through the disk with the arrow key and got errors all the way to the end. Do you think the drive could even be recovered by a professional at this point?

Ok, thanks for the reply. I was gonna use Seagate, they should have the tools in place. Have you heard if they are OK or not?

I think any DR company can extract your data.

All, thanks for all the help. I finally got my drive back from Seagate data recovery service, and all was recovered for $500! They also threw in a 1TB USB portable drive. Thanks again!

Spildit, I hope you are still out there. My tower pc froze one day while my anti-virus program was updating.
All subsequent reboots show that the drive is no longer found by the computer.
I was originally going to run the 7200.11 fix and got a diagerror of 00005010 when I went to issue the "Z" to power down the drive.
So, in a good way, this prevented me from messing things up further (I hope) since I got no further and then found this thread.

My question is before I send the drive off to a professional recovery company, would the fix in this thread:
issue CTRL+Z to get to F3 T> and then m0,6,3,,,,,22
be something I could also try, or would the fact that the drive is not recognized at all be a symptom that would exclude this as a possible fix?

If you could respond I would greatly appreciate it. I will be calling around in the am for quotes....
