Seagate 500 gb Harddisk - pcb board 100535704 REV C burned

Hi,

My Harddisk, 500 gb seagate with pcb board 100535704 REV C got burned at a diode near power adapter. Its not detecting at all and not running also.. i couldn't get a replace board FOXCONN PCB 100535704 REV C at my place.. can i use some other compatible board.. i tried changing to FOXCONN 100535704 REV D PCB board..at that time the hard disk runs..but not detecting in both bios or disk management. is there any way that i can retrieve the data from...i need it very badly...

you can simply try to change your burnt diode

If you're using a good power supply connected to a UPS you can simply remove the D3 or D4 diode and the pcb may work. TVS diodes are used to absorb over voltage from power surges. Without them the drive will be unprotected (thus the reason for the good power supply and UPS) but it likely might work. Just don't trust it for future use, copy the needed data out and junk it.

If so, then the burnt components are probably inductors.
