Recently, when turning on my computer, I noticed that it took much longer than usual to log in to Windows, and to start programs (i.e. the browser). Since then, the system has generally been suspiciously slow. I suspect either malware or a hard drive issue.
My HD is a Seagate ST1000DX001, which is a little over a year old. Attached are some of the diagnostic files.
The most glaring problem seems to be "End to End Error Detection", but I'm wondering if that's a false positive.
I ran Seagate's SeaTools suite a couple of times. The first time around, the drive failed one of the tests (I forgot which one). The second time I ran the suite, the drive passed all tests, except "Long Generic," which was never completed, as it's taking too long to run.
Can somebody take a look at the diagnostic files, and let me know if I should replace the HD, or if there's something else going on (such as malware)?
