Hello there!
I completly stuck with Tonka 2 drive (ST380817AS)
SN:4MR*****
P/N:9W2932-370
Firmware:3.42
When the drive came into my lab, it's reach DRDY state, but puts itself BSY while i try access to sectors. After two or three power reset the drive now stays BSY, not load overlay, and cert code.
I have STR3000, Sediv for Seagate, and MRT Pro tool. Tried load loader, sending overlay, and cert code over SDLD, but the drive not reach DRDY state.
MRT support says i have change HSA, but i hope the head is works, but only some sectors are bad on SA.

I seen on MRT Seagate main window this:
"Choose a family: : ...................Barracuda 7200.7 PUMA
Model: : .............................ST380817AS

HDD baud 9600

Get started service area information
Service area starting cylinder : .....: e306
Service Area SPT : ...................: 280
Number of heads : ....................: 1
Number of cylinders : ................: 164f9
Get ATA Ovl 0 address : ..............Failure
Get ATA Ovl 1 address : ..............Failure
HDDIDtempSTUFF : .....................: e39c-0-4(1)
HDDID : .............................: e351-0-4(1)
Get Certcode address : ...............Failure
Get CertTbl address : ................Failure
Appcode : ...........................: e31b-0-0(1a0)
Access to the service area information completed"

Terminal message is:
"Interface task reset
4096k x 16 buffer detected
PUMA - 1_Disk M-22f 06-01-05 09:44
Head Mask FFFF - Switch to full int.
Spin Ready
3.42 07-18-05 10:42 4096k x 16 buffer
(P)(H)SATA Reset
Not Interface Age!
INVALID Cert Disk Code - ROM Resident Revision Required: 3.42 "

Putting the drive to AGE50 i have this message:
"N50,,22
Code - 33 Track 0E34E.0.134 Sns FFF Rty F7FF.FF.80FF Rtf 1800 LBA 00000000"

Please help....
Thanks.

Have you had the drive open in a clean room?

We had a 7200.9 with same symptoms not long ago even though firmware was partially initialized.
It turned out to be a combination of bad heads and small scratches on the top platter.

No, i did not opened yet.
Have you changed HSA? What was the solution?

I had a 7200.9 work too with partially initialized SA, changed HSA from two donors but no success. Donors are still alive with own heads.

We swaped the heads and were able to get a partial recovery.

Can you load a valid cert code in T> prompt?
T> CTRL+D
T> CRTL+R
Then try clearing G-list.
T> i4,1,22

Power drive off and on then try reading sectors.

Thanks for answers!
I can send Cert code with loader, and clear G-list, but after power reset, the drive still not ready.
I tried "T>/1
1>N1

Initializing SMART SectorsFailed sys sect. write"

Moltke "method" still not puts the drive DRDY state, but i have this message:
1>F
1>/
T>N50,,22
T>Interface task reset
4096k x 16 buffer detected
PUMA - 1_Disk M-22f 06-01-05 09:44
