I have heard that all WD models are same inside -- WD blue /black /green even purple ,there is no slight difference in heads ,platters etc.
Is it just marketing gimmick ? I also want to know whether all desktop /laptop drives are consumer grade products ?
Vendors claim they are designed for reliable operation but unlike enterprise hard disk there is no MTBF / MTTF assigned in specs of desktop drives. Peoples generally use desktop hard disks for 8-10 hours a day while WD manufacturer specifications say they are designed for 2 hours / day with 1 GB data write and 2 gb data read limits.
Home users copy terabytes of movies in a single go , is it abusive to disks ?
