Hi guys,
I recently purchased a Samsung HD204UI 2TB drive second hand, and I've discovered that it has an ATA password on it. I have tried to contact the seller about this as he
apparently tested this drive for hours so surely he must know what the password is, however, he has not been very communicative to date, so my hopes are not high on that front!
Anyway, I've spent the last 5 hours or so trying a number of different utils and methods to either unlock or erase it, but so far have got exactly nowhere with it. Part of the issue is that the mainboard I am using for this doesn't have an 'IDE Compatibility' mode, so many tools don't see the drive.
I have managed to detect it using MHDD however:
Code:
MHDD>eid
SAMSUNG HD204UI LBA:3,907,029,168
SN:S2H7J9JB613877 FW:1AQ10001 CACHE:32767KB
Supports: LBA48 HPA AAM DLMC LBA MS16 DMA (UDMA6,MWDMA2)
SMART: Enabled SelfTest: Supported ErrorLog: Supported
Security: high, ON. Size = 1907729MB
WARNING: THIS DRIVE IS LOCKED BY ATA PASSWORD
Unfortunately, I have been unable to unlock the drive using the default Samsung Master password (which I believe is 32 't's), or erase it using MHDD.
Can anyone assist me to unlock this drive please?
