Hello there !!!
First of all get a TTL adaptor like this - http://www.hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=192
Plug it to the drive like this - http://www.hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php?f=116&t=189
Open your terminal software and power on the drive. Post the LOG that the drive makes to the terminal software.
It's not very likely for the PCB to be the problem. Most likely you have either bad heads or bad firmware.
I don't like the "faint beeps". I don't know what you mean. It might be the heads stuck to the platters ? Or even worse the heads scrapping the platters ? DO NOT OPEN THE DRIVE YOURSELF.
If the data is really important do not power up the drive again and send it to a professional data recovery firm.
For drives that you have a PCB problem and you need to replace it (like if you have a bad burned spot on the PCB and visible damage) you can allways buy an identical drive (same full model), read overlays from the donor, hot swap to the patient and write overlay from the donor on patient. Then apply donor PCB - http://www.hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php?f=116&t=1085
Also if the PCB is still working at some level you can read it's ROM using something like SHT DEMO - http://www.hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php? ... 1565#p8556
(you will need the TTL adaptor).
Regards and good luck.
