Hello, I have very important data in my external drive, which is made of two parts - internal drive and enclosure.
Once when I turned off my PC (with this drive connected to PC) a few days ago, I heard strange sound, but I ignored it. Since about then I think I didn't see the drive in Windows Explorer anymore. Now I actually tried to check if it works, try reconnecting the USB and power cables, and Windows Explorer (on Windows 7) doesn't see it. Connecting the enclosure's power and swithing it on is sufficient to get that sound (there is even no need to connect the USB data cable). Also, I have just tried to take the internal drive out of the enclosure and connect another PC's internal power connector to it, then switch that PC on. The same sound is there..

MP3 sound file (REC005.MP3 is inside REC005.zip) is attached below, please check it.

What could be here?
Maybe it's not spinning up? What can I do about it to get to the data?.. :(

WD20EZRX is inside
Enclosure is ICY BOX, model IB-351StU3-B

If the data is valuable to you, send it to a Data Recovery pro

Hi,
i could be bad motor too .

@ Thread Starter
I could be that the heads from their parking zone ramp have fallen into platter disc and got stuck there preventing rotation of heads .Also it could be that the motor of the hard drive is seized .Generally rates for this kinda problem would be USD 467/- if motor it seized .If its just head stuck on platter pricing would be around USD 350/- .

PS : Best of luck
