Thanks, but it's incomplete.

Modules are missing, Loaders (Boot.com, boot.ram) are missing as well.

What tool are you using ? MRT or something like that ?

Some tools like HRT will use individual CPs as loaders instead of a "loader" file containing multiple CPs (like PC3K).

At any rate it's the first time i read about Boot.com and Boot.ram related to MAXTOR loaders.

For dealing Maxtor Drive, I've SD Doctor also MRT (MRT could be buggy, I found a Loader but it's not working, most of the functions of MRT Maxtor looks like dead)

It has been several years I worked with Maxtor HDD, yes, in SD Doctor, the loader is Boot.cod and boot.ram...

@spildit, fzabkar shared the resouces from SD Doctor! and things are missing as stated!

By SD Doctor, things are like the following picture

Ok, thanks for the clarification.

For MAXTOR either SATA and old IDE i've only used HRT. I do have china hdd union Maxtor tool (ripp off KrogrHDD Utility - http://www.hddoracle.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=1955) but i never did use that because it's limited to primary master.

On HRT 3.0 and 5.0 MAXTOR "Loader" it's just the totality of CPs that you send to the drive. There are modules and CPs. CPs can be loaded in reverse as well or you can select what to load.

I've tested this with several drives. You place the jumpers in "safe mode" so that no firmware is loaded and then you can start the drive by uploading CPs to RAM :

On the HDD Oracle forum on the Research thread related to MAXTOR we were able to pick up a PC3K loader for MAXTOR and extract/turn it on individual CPs to work with HRT. PC3K "loader" for MAXTOR is just the CPs that HRT uses compiled in a single file.

I don't think that you can use either of those wih SD or MRT ....

The "1.GRP" and "7.GRP" files in my first resource consist of CP0 to CP22. I can extract them for you if necessary. (The 2 GRP files are identical, BTW)

@jackass, its not helpful yet until I get loader or boot.cod and. ram
I found some fw in hddsurgery site, but didn't work with mrt. as said, seems the mrt is bugy, and thee hdd with SATA interface by the way

@fzabkar, you can share whatever you have, can try at least

and it would be great if its possible to extract /convert into boot.cod and. ram

@jackass files are MODULES for the drive, not loader and not CPs. I can use those with BVG HRT 3.0/5.0 but they will not help to boot the drive (loader).

Problem aparently is that all tools will use diferent format for "loader". HRT/KrogrHDD will use individual CPs while PC-3000 will use propriatary file with CPs (and ROM) on it. SD tool will use another format (several files that have several CPs on each of them) and most likely MRT will use it's own format as well.

So my guess is that the files that you downloaded from hddsurgery site are either modules or if they are a "loader" they will work on PC3K only. You can extract PC3K loader file on CPs and use them on HRT but to use them on SD tool you have to "convert" the individual CPs in whatever format SD tool (or MRT uses). Meaning you would have to pick up the PC3K loader file, extract the CPs and then convert the CPs intro SD format.

The loader I found in hddsurgery in pc3k format, in mrt it can be used as I see it has the function. but it fails, the reason can be either the loader is not compatible or mrt is buggy.
in sd, it gets grp as well which are in total 9 what I can remember. the cp you are referring I see it 22pcs of files. if grp contains the boot n ram. so which numbers? so that can be converted straight by just renaming the extension (not sure. if its gonna work or not)

Here you have an example of a "Loader" in HRT format :

HRT supports either individual CPs or HRT propriatary archive file containing the CPs. This applies to all HRT utilities (it supports "archive" in HRT propriatary format even for storing several modules on whatever drive you chose - it's like PC3K propriatary library files or whatever you want to call it).

HRT Maxtor Loader.rar [445.83 KiB]

For example, on WD Marvell drives using HRT you can work with individual modules like you do on WDMarvel, SeDiv, WDR, etc or you can use a single ".bla" archive file in HRT format containing all the Modules (in a single file) :

Example MAXTOR loader is for a 6E040L0-462E-NAR61590 drive

It looks like the HRT loader prefixes each CP with its size in bytes, plus some minor header stuff. It should be easy to convert between one tool and another.

The BOOT_nnnn.COD file appears to have the following format (YAR51HW0 example):

Code:
00000 - 001FF  header
00200 - 201FF  CP0x00
20200 - 203FF  CP list (IDs and sizes)
20400 - 243FF  CP0x03
24400 - 283FF  CP0x04
.....
90400 - 943FF  CP0x1F

The "nnnn" characters in the filename correspond to the checksum word at the end of CP00. Each CP also contains this word at byte offset 0x04.
