The author of the following teardowns has some excellent photos of disc heads. It might be worth asking him how he does it.

1 : Data Recovery Generally Needs 45X Max Magnification " You Can Stretch it To 70X "
2 : A Proper Microscope Is Required For Proper Working And Platter / Head Inspection
3 : Camera On a Microscope is More For Adding Images on Social Media .
