At this point I am not sure if it is mechanical or the board. Im just thinking to try a board repair first then later take to a data recovery centre if it doesnt work.
I dont know what a terminal LOG is and so far cant find anything about on it on the web.
The drive causes POST and shutdowns to take longer than usual, but isnt recognised in Windows Disk Management. It spins up when first connected and makes a couple of faint beeps and some normal sounding mechanical noises (like the heads moving around maybe, nothing nasty sounding), then spins down after about 20 seconds.
All websites which sell the board so far have said a bios swap is a must if you dont know the firmware, which I dont in this case because its not written anywhere on the drive . Apparently this is often the case with this drive.
