Hello everybody, can I ask what are some of the ways that we can rebuild data structures on a raw data image? Are there any softwares that we can use or do we have to manually decipher the data? Thanks

It was the result of a scratched platter damage.

Was this RAW image taken before the platters were damaged? Or from an attempt to create an image after the drive failed?

If the image is fairly complete, then most any good data recovery software such as R-Studio should be able to scan and rebuild the file structure.

It seems to me that if the drive is at a data recovery lab that is both able to get a full image of a drive with scratched platters and corrupt service tracks, they should be more than able to do a file system recovery from that image.

my guess is that the recovered image is in a raw data form. And that the algorithm will look for patterns for known file types and attempts to rebuild them is that right? Wouldn't it be pretty manual?
