Checking NRG list won't help you with Rosewoods
The translator on Rosewoods is dependent on many other things.
Another problem is MC that can hold all recent data and will be cleared if you issue any command that alters translation.

Why do you record such video "manuals" then? So that beginnary engineers spoil customer's data?

Nice video to bring customers to more professional person/company. Correct name for this video - "How to loose a big part of your data".

We have received few cases wherein beginners have already applied translator regeneration commands and these drives have partial access now.
Does anyone have a solution to this ????????????

The partial access problem can be solved, but everything that was stored in MC when translator was regen'ed is gone, IMHO.
And that can be a good 70GB of data.

Seem that seagate is working hard to make loose customer data very easily, a serious company should produce new drives as better than previous, not worse!
How DR can recover data properly if there are entries in NRG list on this drives?

If they could regenerate the translator of a rosewood, so beginners would not be...... or yes, but with resources.

How does one solve translator issue on these Rosewood drives then ?
I have a drive where it shows size "0"
Specially when ACE gives following statement and has given only half solution of unlocking which is of no use if you can not solve the Translator issue

Attention! Special Restrictions! Due to the fact that the FW has particular features, we strongly recommend that you do not apply Recount translator commands (both, ATA or terminal), Clear G-list, Reset S.M.A.R.T and spare heads in ROM commands. This will clear Media Cache and you might lose user data forever.

Have anyone done it ?
Thanks

there is at least one way of preventing such thing from happening.

May be you were lucky that the drive is still giving you full access
Most of the times it becomes Partial access

I know by now that there is a way. But unable to figure out how. Still researching :)
