Yeah, I'm done with the on/off method. I really just wanted to get some sectors copied so i can confirm the data is actually there. So I'm satisfied that it is.

I am absolutely open to hear some quotes. It sounds like a pretty simple recovery, assuming a a proper loader is available.

As i mentioned i can jump around the drive with hdparm and read sectors anywhere, until this "pending bug" locks me up, so i am hopeful that there is not surface or head damage.

The -f option in Seagate's Firmware Upgrade Utility appears to be able to update .crt and .tbl modules individually.
