HI there,

I have a Western Digital WD500BEVT.
The drive is sometimes recogniced by the system in the Devicemanager. If i connect it to the S-ATA Port, the HDD LED will blink permanent.
In WD Marvel i cant ID the Disk correctly. (see pic).
Is it a Slow issue or will PCB exchange solve the problem, so that I can rescue the data on it?
U12 Chip is available on both boards.

Can you read modules and defects from SA ?
If you can't read those from copy 0 then try to read from copy 1

If your drive doesn't ID, it might have bad surface on SA or bad heads. Sometimes it could be bad PCB.
I would try to swap pcb first to rule out pcb issue. If you will still have same issue then you'll know that problem is inside the drive.
If you change pcb, remeber to transfer rom from patient to donor.

Have you swapped ROM too?
What happens if you mount on your drive the original pcb again? With original pcb does motor spin up again?

How can I backup it?

I swaped the ROM (U12) to the other Board in the Same position as bevore.

The Original PCB is now on the disk but it makes now the same sounds. It sounds like Spinup for 3 Times and shut down.

If with donor pcb, motor drive doesn't spin, then it means one of the followings:
1) Donor pcb got damaged or was selled already damaged to you.
2) Something got worse inside your drive (head stuck or motor freeze).

If you did solder rom back to original pcb and your drive doesn't spin no more with it, then i believe that option 2 is the most likely.

If your drive spins with good donor pcb and swapped rom, then you should be able to backup SA modules (of course if there isn't any issue inside the drive).

I guess unfortunately that you should send this drive to a PRO.
There is nothing you can do inside the drive without professional instruments and proper 'know how'.
