Hey guys. I've been throwing my head against a wall the last few days trying to get this hard drive unlocked. At the moment it looks as if it's impossible, but some threads on these forums indicate some measure of success. It's an older model, wdbbep0010bbk-03, and the drive contains a lot of data that I would hate to lose. What are my options?

P.S - i'm going to need you to ELI5 me as much as humanely possible. My profession lies mainly with cameras, and unfortunately I'm in a position where I have to resort to asking for help. Ty!

Are you sure you have used password for that drive? What about provided "hint" ?
Those "old" drive had a FW bug which making them behave like it password locked

It is most likely possible to remove the password on this model. I'm saying most likely because there is one particular variant of a USB3 WD drive that has a 40-60% chance of success. Other USB3 WD models have 100% chance, so it all would be your luck :)
But it can only be done in a DR lab, so you would have to ship your drive to somebody who knows how to bypass the password.

It is not absolutely necessary to send the HDD to a Data Recovery Lab.
If you have some basic knowledge, you could maybe decrypt your HDD with my service.
So the hard drive stays in your hand all the time.
