Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

My aunt's iMac refused to boot. After a bunch of tests, seemed like the hard drive was suspect. I Pulled the hd out and hooked it up to power and a sata-USB adapter. It wouldn't spin at all. Last ditch effort was to buy an identical drive and swap the controller board. It'll spin now, but it will not mount. I've never seen the MBR reported like it is in the attached pic. Is the drive absolute toast or is there anything else to try?

Thank you for the reply, there's a ton of family pics on the hd that we'd love to rescue. Of course there's no backup despite me telling her again and again...
