Greetings everyone.
The title says it all. The drive is silent, not spinning and not recognized in BIOS.

Code:
F3 2>Z

ExecuteSpinRequest

HighPowerMode = 0100
DiagError 00006002
F3 2>U

ExecuteSpinRequest

DiagError 00006008
Spin Error
Elapsed Time 5.397 secs
R/W Status 2 R/W Error 84150180
F3 2>Z

Spin Down Complete
Elapsed Time 0.084 msecs
F3 2>U

ExecuteSpinRequest

ExecuteSpinRequest

HighPowerMode = 0100
DiagError 00006008
Spin Error
Elapsed Time 5.397 secs
R/W Status 2 R/W Error 84150180

I have removed PCB and cleaned contacts. No change.
Is there anything else I can try? Any wisdom that can be gleamed from the diagnostics I posted?

you should have post the log prior to:

Code:
F3 2>Z // first line from the code YOU posted

Are you sure that there are no sounds coming from the drive? Could there be a stiction fault or seized spindle motor?

If you have a multimeter, can you detect any voltage pulses at the motor terminals? What are the resistances between each pair of motor terminals?

Does the motor controller IC become hot?

Thanks for the help. The drive really does not make any sound that I can hear.

On defective drive, IC's are warm to touch where I indicated in attached photo. 0 resistance and 0 voltage at motor terminals where measured in photo. Tested between all 3 terminals.

(BTW, as a sanity check, I measured motor terminals on a good drive and got 300 ohm and between 5 -15 milli volts on the good drive, not sure what range is to be expected)

Defective board looks kinda discolored to me at the 2 warm points, even more to the naked eye than in the photo.

The resistances between each pair of terminals should be the same and should be of the order of 1 or 2 ohms. I don't know why your good drive is showing 300 ohms. Are you measuring the resistance with power off?

The voltages at each terminal should be pulsing immediately after the spin-up command. The pulses should stop after 5.397 secs.

Is the good drive the same model? If so, does its PCB spin up your patient?
