Hello friends

my WD20EARX felt yesterday from height of 1m approx. But it was not powered.

Since then its no more recognized in Mac OS X Sierra neither Win 7.

WD Drive utilities recognize only that there is a "Mybook" attached, but no volume inside , 0 byte... i guess it reads only PCB memory to show that ?

When clinking check drive status, it shows error reading SMART parameters in red

When started, we hear traditional clicks of heads moving and trying to read 2 or 3 times only, then heads click sound disappear.

Only the motor sound remains for 1mn or 2mn. and then it goes for another cycle of some heads moving clicks , then stop again.

PCB led blinks continuously quickly.

Sometimes after these cycles finished , disk completely stops automatically, with no activity, no led, like power was cut. If i replug USB cable to start it soon after, then it doesn't make any mechanical noise, only led blinking fast.

To get the motor sound, i have to replug the power cable.

Sorry if this is stupid or naive from me, but do you think it's a mechanical problem , or it can be PCB related ? or the HDD mechanic is dead ?

ps:Tried to put it in the freezer for one night ( old technic from an old fashioned IT guy :)

Thanks for your help.
James
