Western Digital 8TB Drive WD8001FZWX

September 27th, 2017, 5:07

Hi All,

i purchased a Western Digital 8TB Drive WD8001FZWX from a local seller who informed that this came out of a Mybook Pro 16TB enclosure. I tried connecting this drive directly to my computer via SATA port and it does not get detected in BIOS. If i try to hot plug in directly when the computer is on, Intel Rapid Storage driver detects it correctly with Model, serial number and correct capacity but shows the Status as "LOCKED" . HWinfo64 also detects the drive. However, none of the other partition tools are able to detect the drive and it does not show up in disk management either. As such, i am unable to partition or do any further tests.

i am using the below motherboard with a Core i7 2600K processor and 8GB RAM

How do i fix this?.Please help !

Thanks
Bobby
