Hello!

I have a 2TB Seagate Barracuda drive that took a small tumble off the table and hasn't worked since. PC or Mac just won't recognise it. Thinking it might be the SATA board, I removed it from its casing and plugged into a HD docking station, still no luck.

The drive spins up just fine but some odd noises occur. Here is a recording of the sounds it makes when starting up the drive in the dock. Maybe someone can diagnose the fault?

It sounds ok to me.

Can you provide terminal output?

What is the full model and part number of the drive?

Hi, Thanks for checking out the recording!

It is a Seagate Barracuda, ST2000DM001(model no), 1E6164 - 570 (PN)

What exactly do you mean by terminal output? I typed in the command 'top' into the OSX terminal to get current processes and then activated the drive a couple of times - got the following. Still no acknowledgment at all from the mac, its as though nothing is there, though the drive spins up upon USB connection. Very odd.

Processes: 239 total, 4 running, 9 stuck, 226 sleeping, 1078 threads 18:19:27
