Have a history of 10+ Surface Pro 3/4 recovery's using, I always connect to PC3000 via SATA.
All i have seen had Bit Locker enabled by default, so you might need to ask client to get the recovery key from their microsoft account or domain administrator.

HI,
if you have Pc3000 or MRT connect use Converter Msata to Sata you can access it.

it might have bad sectors thats why your OS cant mount properly..
