Hi,

I have a Toshiba HDD that wont spin correct. There are no clicking-sounds, the Drive just Spins up a Little Bit and then spins down immediately. I have checked the Voltage at PJ801. 5v and ground.

The PCB itself looks fine, no burnt spots or missing components. Can anybody give me a tip to bring this drive back to live? Soldering is no problem. Do i have to order a Donor-PCB or is there a chance to get around ordering one? It would be fine to Recover the data from this HDD.

Hope to get some help...

Menz

Which Parameters dp i have to check?

I have the following Numbers:

PCB is G003235C
MQ01ABF050
ABM AA00/AM0C5E

Is it just the PCB Number that have to match when i order the replacement-PCB or do i have to check any other number?

Thank you,

Menz

If the drive spins up and spins down is a clear sign the issue is the heads (even media damage already) and nothing wrong with the pcb, contact a real DR company will be the only chance to recover your data

I have seen these with dodgy PCB’s that cause erratic spinup and spin down.

What is that fleck over the "S" in the "TLS2605" marking on the motor controller (IC102)?

Are you referring to the 16-pin shock sensor amplifier (BD3851)?

The thing in IC102 looks a hole to me, also.

Maybe a piece of dust, or glue residue ?

There is a little Particle on TLS2605, nothing to worry about.

Any further tips? I can assure you that nothing is burnt or missing.

Maybe we can find a solution ;-)

Good.
As stated, you need a board same model number, and transfer IC602 to the bad board to the new one.

Or, if data is important, send the drive to some specialized

Data recovery should start from simplest work. Replacing the PCB is simple. If it do not help then You need to find DR company.
