HDD WD20EFRX damaged 5V TVS diode

Hi!, a faulty Power Sata connector damaged the HDD (won't turn on, 0 sound) also the PC shutdown, if the HDD is connected the pc will try to turn ON but will shutdown, if the drive is disconnected the pc will work fine, replaced the PSU after that for safety.

Now, i searched about this problem on this forum and found something about the TVs diodes, in my case this is a WD RED 2TB, already tested the D4 and D3, the D3 was shorted so i removed it, but i couldn't find any R64 or R67 resistors.

What else should i check before connecting the drive?.

If it's a known good psu you can use it to try on..but better is if you replace the diod.

Well, tried and is working! now copying files asap. I have another drive with the same issue but first lets see if this one have all the files intact... :shock:

The other drive didn't power on.

Checked again and this one is shorted too (0.00), should i removit and try again or replacing it with the one from the working hdd (temporary) drive?.

I can' edit the post, but my mistake!, the R43 has the measurement of 0.00 and doesn't have continuity (no bip on the Tester) Maybe is the same as the R64 and R67 ?, in this case should i create a bridge and see if it works?.

This statement is contradictory. Do you mean that R43 is open circuit? If so, then bridge it and power up the board to make sure there are no fireworks. Measure the voltages at L3, L5, L8, L1 (near U1 motor controller) and L6 (near jumper block).

Yes, sorry for the confusion!. After making the bridge... is working!!. :D
