I have a weird problem

hello !
my hard drive just stop working, it was making noises before he stopped but when I open it he work just fine ( keep in mind I did't drop or hit it at all )
the model of my hard drive is :

ST 1000DM003
Seagate 1Tb

right now I am connecting it to my PC & I am backing up the files that I need but it open without cover
but sometimes it stops reading ...
I have no idea what's going on can someone please help me our or tell me if this hard drive can be fixed ?

No, it cannot be fixed.

Be happy you can still access some of your files, and copy the out of the drive as soon as possible. Most important files first, secondary ones later.

Then toss the drive in the trash for recycling the metals.

It is an electronic/mechanic object. Sometimes it just fails, no need for a reason.

Seagate drives are known to fail more than others, but sometimes it is just bad luck.

The more you work with it, now that it has started having problems, more damaged the surface gets ( the place where your files are written ) .

So, copy what you can, then forget the drive.

This threat is a joke right?
Running a ST1000DM003 without lid and asking why it stops reading, you did do everything wrong.
You need to read a few more minutes in this forum and you will learn why.
