Cant get access to the ROM either. This is why I initially changed the board. Shorting the ROM still gives no access. Its a strange one.

Yes this is correct. Tried shorting both sides of the ROM at almost every speed. Errors out every time.

ISTM that would suggest that one or more of the MCU's supply voltages is not powering up. Can you measure any voltage at the jumper pins when this happens?

I saw that, but it's not clear whether the "same issue" is referring to the corrupt media cache or the no-spin problem, or both.

Did the usual stuff like change sysfile 93 etc. I was not able to clear the DOS table or restart the media cache, maybe due to the 'issues' or the Crawford firmware. I was however able to reformat the user area which does also clear the media cache on this drive. We now have 100% LBA access and she is imaging like a WD
