HDD ReMap Software Recommendations, Experience?

March 10th, 2018, 12:08

Have a Seagate 500 GB HDD that got a lot of "Bad Sectors" before realized it had faulty firmware and upgraded.

Am thinking of running ReMap software and have been doing some searching

Forum search using keywords "HDD ReMap Software Recommendations" nothing then used "HDD ReMap Software Recommendations" also nothing then "HDD ReMap Software" nothing
finally "ReMap Software" nothing

Would appreciate any comments by others who have done this.

Thanks

Download Seagate SeaTools and run the full erase then the full verification.

After all the process, remember to clearly label the hard disk as "Only for non-important things" before starting to use it.

rogfanther,

"Seagate SeaTools and run the full erase then the full verification" Did as you suggested and tried to run but was unable.

Interesting that can still do Full Erase with other Apps (DBAN and KILLISK).

Spildit,

"Toss the drive in the garbage and buy a new one (NOT seagate)" Agree but hope to use this drive as educational device.

It is already being educational. As a lesson on a brand to avoid.

If it cannot complete Seagate´s diagnostic tool, consider it bad, and trash it.

rogfanther,

Mine is just one HDD.

To me what is educational is these results from Back Blaze "Hard Drive Stats for Q3 2017" https://www.backblaze.com/blog/hard-dri ... s-q3-2017/

Check the Seagate failures!
