WD1600JS no user area access

March 13th, 2018, 19:52

WD1600JS-08NCB1 the drive initializes without issue, but when I try to read the user area it reports "ABR" in PC3K.

All the modules checked OK except for mod 32, which returned "DISK ECU UNSAFE ERROR" -- heads tested OK as well.

When I try to change the RAM head map to 0000 or 1111 the drive will shut down when the soft reset is sent. 4444 or 5555 do work, however still no user area access.

Is this most likely related to mod 32?

Replace 32 from donor and everything would be OK.
Good luck

I would clear it instead.

32 is the RE-Lo list.
