WD20EARX doesn't want to spin up

March 17th, 2018, 21:13

Hi,

I have WD My Book 2TB, which contains WD20EARX-00PASB0 drive.
Couple of days ago it stops responding and after reboot drive makes noise recorderd on file attached (it's zipped, because uploading MP3's is not allowed unfortunately).
HDD.zip
(2.97 MiB) Downloaded 220 times

Drive never fell, always stood in one place in vertical position.

Is it a mechanical failure (heads?) or maybe some kind of firmware or electronical problem?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks, I forgot to mention that in BIOS (if I connect the drive directly through SATA) it's size is reported as 0.
