Match PCB # and transfer NV-RAM (8 legs IC on the right corner) from patient to donor.

Good luck

Measure the voltages at D3 and D4 (12V and 5V TVS diodes).

Measure the voltages at VR1 (2SC6052), Q1, and Q3 (2SA1242).

Measure the voltages at C11, C17, and C18 (Cuk converter).

Does the drive appear in BIOS? Could it be a Power Up In Standby (PUIS) issue?

BTW, the drive appears to be a rebadged Hitachi (Pathfinder 2).

Thanks.
What do you mean by measuring the voltages? Do you mean while the drive is running? I always measured in ohm. (D3 has 0 Ohm)

Is it possible to remove the diode or the replace it? Or would that affect other parts of the pcb? Maybe replace the whole pcb? if so - how do I know which pcb to get?

Thanks again for the help :)

D3 looks like a bidirectional 12V TVS diode. Does the drive shut down your power supply?

no it the power supply is fine after plugging the drive in.
