The all-in-one tool question

May 17th, 2018, 5:44

Hi all

Before anything else, I'd like to mention that I have no experience in data recovery other than using ddrescue a couple of times, so bear with me.

I have a strong IT background, and I'm thinking ahead in a couple of years to set up a small data recovery business. One of the questions that first arises is the tools needed for the job. If we don't take into account physical damage to moving parts or electronic components in a hard disk, will PC-3000 be able to recover most of the data of a hard disk in most of the scenarios presented? (firmware corruption, bad sectors, logical failures, etc)

In other words: will investing in PC-3000 resolve most of the cases non related to physical damage of the hard disk?

Thank you in advance.

I don't think so. PC3000 is just a tool. It can help you much, but it's up to you to solve the cases.

It's a tool and it's a great hell of a tool if used correctly. By all means, it's worth investing money into if you are planning to service hard drives.

Yes, you connect the disk, press the "repair" key and wait 5 minutes and you can bill the service.....

Now seriously, the answer is NO.

Tools are necessary, but not enough.

Hi Splidit

Thanks a lot for your reply. Is there any big differences between DDI4 and RapidSpar other than easy of use? Besides, I've been looking at DDI4 website and the last news posted was on January 12, 2016. I don't know if they still releasing updates on new drives.

As said earlier, you need both tools and good head on your shoulders to go in for data recovery. :)
If you are sure that this is exactly what you want to do, pc3000 may become your go to tool.
